Inspire Foundation golden charity places are a fantastic way to secure your spot in the City2Surf this year.

Not only is running in the City2Surf a great way for you to improve your physical and mental health, when you join the Inspire running team you’ll also be able to use your run to help young Australians improve their mental health too. You may not know that:

  • Almost half of all adults in Australia will experience a mental disorder at some point in their lifetime
  • One in four young Australians aged 16-24 experiences a mental disorder
  • Suicide is the leading cause of death amongst 14-25 year olds.

Inspire exists to change this, and improve the lives of young people, but we can’t do it without you.

We have 24 exclusive places in this year’s City2Surf. As an Inspire runner you will commit to raising a minimum of $1,000 to help ensure young people know that they are not alone – whatever they’re facing, wherever they are. $1000 sounds like a lot but it can easily be raised by:

  • asking your friends, family and colleagues – Just 25 people giving $40 will get you to your target
  • organising a guessing competition – Probably the easiest and least time consuming activity around. Fill a jar with lollies and have everyone make a donation to guess how many are in there. People can guess more than once (if they donate more than once:) $50 could get you that much closer to your target.
  • getting a crew together for lawn bowls – A great way to spend a winter afternoon with friends. Book in with your local bowling club, invite your friends and ask for a set donation. 15 friends and a $15 donation could raise an additional $150!
  • holding a Friday night footy – In the comfort of your home, grab a few pizza’s or hot dogs then invite your mates and cheer on your team. Ask for a donation. It’s also a great opportunity to ask how your mate is doing. 10 mates, $10 donation – that’s $100 to add to your fundraising tally.
  • hosting a Girls Night In – Get together a bunch of your girlfriends and plan a girls night in. Enjoy face masks, makeovers and manicures then ask your friends to donate what they would have spent at a salon. 5 girlfriends, $20 donation – an evening with loads of laughs and $100 to add to your fundraising efforts.
  • becoming a quiz master at your own Trivia night – This one takes a little bit of organising but who doesn’t love a trivia night! Approach your local pub or club, tell them it’s a fundraiser, then invite your family and friends (and ask them to invite their friends and family) and charge a cover fee. Just 20 people giving a $15 donation will boost your fundraising by $300.

We’d love to have you part of our team. And we will be with you every step of the way providing you with the support to help you achieve your running and fundraising goals.

Take up the challenge today and the young person you help could be someone you know. REGISTER NOW!
